Our client is a world leading supplier of scientific instrumentation, raegents and consumables, and software services. 

Position Summary:

The Director, Procurement Partner is the leader responsible for developing and driving the Procurement vision with key colleagues in the business unit. You will be a key partner to the divisional operations leader with a focus on strategy, execution and implementation. In this position, you will facilitate the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost. You will also mitigate risk, use technology, improve processes and systems, and reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition.

Scale of Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement short and long-term goals, strategic plans, policies and procedures for the Division aligned with the Group performance metrics
  • Deliver on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments for Division Procurement
  • Coordinate long range strategies with the business partners across the Division and implement plans
  • Engage and collaborate with Category Managers, R&D, Engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage
  • Partner with Supply Chain to create demand plans for supplier partners
  • Work closely with Shared Service and Procure to Pay (P2P) process team to ensure efficient end to end delivery models
  • Coordinate business projects and programs (e.g. M&A integration, make or buy, vendor transition, CSR), supervise execution and communicate results to senior leaders
  • Ensure alignment with business colleagues within the Group and Division on projects
  • Ensure the implementation of Enterprise Processes such as Supplier Quality, Supplier Risk and Supplier Management

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Assemble Division business requirements and assures compliance to regulatory requirements
  • Join forces with Supplier Partners, ensuring capacity to meet demand and work with the Category team to close gaps
  • Drive and oversee compliance for indirect materials in linkage with the Global team
  • Use ‘scouting approach’ to influence R&D and Commercial partners earlier in NPI process, look after the product pipeline (LCM), support product platforming
  • Serve as issue point of contact for Procurement within the Division, work with Category Management to resolve problems
  • Consolidate, analyze and report on divisional procurement metrics for business reviews

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide division input to category strategies (Global, Group specific) and support implementation of aligned strategies
  • Engage with supplier leadership (Vice President, General Managers, President, Functional and Operations Leaders) to tackle business problems and assure alignment with company objectives
  • Develop and assess purchasing talent while improving resource productivity and professionalism
  • Mentor and evolve staff through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvement
  • Implement talent initiatives to improve Employee Involvement Survey results
  • Drive the development and implementation of common processes, standardized practices, use of tools and technologies that can scaled company wide

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management, Business Logistics or a comparable area of study; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 12 years of procurement/sourcing experience
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
  • Strong influencing and ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of colleagues
  • Significant eye for business with confirmed team building skills and understanding of operations
  • Proven flexibility and readiness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to confidently present sophisticated information
  • Resolved, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach
  • Strong procurement and sourcing background
  • 5+ years' experience leading and managing procurement teams with a cornerstone on mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Progressively responsible career path in manufacturing operations and procurement with significant practical experience in international settings
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus
  • Empowering of global constituents to meet business objectives, and possess strong presentation skills at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust
